Bargoed & District Art Society
The Bargoed and District Art Society was
founded in 1963 with the object of "advancing pure and applied
art in the surrounding district".
The Society has around
forty members. It meets weekly at 7.00pm in Bethany Church School
Room , near the Boy`s Club, Ystrad Mynach, Caerphilly County
Borough, South Wales.
We enjoy an interesting and varied programme of activities. These
range from demonstrations, talks, videos and displays, to social
events culminating in the Annual Dinner. Take a look at the
Programme of Events 2004 for
details.
Throughout the summer members have open air
sketching evenings at places of local interest, whilst art displays
and `Artists at Work` days are held at fetes and functions. One such
artists at work day was this year`s event at
Parc Cwm Darran.
One of the highlights of the programme is the
Annual Exhibition
and Sale, held over a week at Ystrad Mynach Church Hall. On average
260 original paintings are exhibited and offered for sale. During
the day time, sessions are held for local schoolchildren and several
hundred come along to enjoy the artwork and to take part in painting
activities.
